Life without a smartphone

Why I Created This Site

Blog entry #1 - here we go.

On January 9, 2007 Apple’s Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone to the world ushering in a new era of technology. Now, only 17 years later, according to Consumer Affairs, “92% of individuals in the U.S. have at least one smartphone.” This site, AlreadySmart.net is for the 8%.

My name is Benjamin St Phillip and I created AlreadySmart.net to promote the use of basic phones intead of smarphones.

Who Am I?

My name is Benjamin St Phillip and I live in the midwest with my wife and 3 children. I am a Christian. I love sports (especially basketball) and most outdoor activities too. I am a software engineer by trade and I work for a fortune 500 company. Other than not owning a smartphone, I think that I’m a pretty normal guy living a fairly normal life.

Why I Use a Basic Phone

My decision to use a basic phone is a life choice comparable to biking to work, living debt free, or exercising daily. It’s a decision that my wife has agreed to as well thus neither Mrs. St Phillip nor I own a smartphone.
